In 2010, the production line of Terberg Benschop will be improved significantly. After these changes Terberg, with shorter lead times, will be able to increase the production output with 50 percent, compared to the peak in 2008. Therefore the investment is truly a "Bridge to the future" and a proof that Terberg has much confidence in the recovery of the global economy.
Terberg Benschop shows vision to use the year 2010 to increase the production capacity. In this period of reduced demand, there is room to make this leap to the future without hindering the customers. The innovations will have a positive impact on the work of the Terberg employees in the factory and on the fulfillment of customer demands. After the conversion, the factory work will be less stressful for the staff and, thanks to the greater capacity, users can count on fast deliveries, even in times of high demands. This applies to all customers, both the users of heavy road vehicles and those of terminal tractors or other special vehicles. Terberg is not, for that matter, expecting higher demands in 2010, but perceives signs that the economy is developing positively in some major markets.
Faster construction
Terberg Benschop changes the layout of the production halls to increase the flow speed in the factory. In addition investments are necessary in the chassis department. Soon a big welding robot will shorten the welding time. The machining department and the department that’s assembling the welded constructions, move to the hall next to the section chassis construction. Thus, the conversion makes the cooperation with that department more feasible.
The production of the YT-tractors (Yard tractors) will be concentrated and divided into five phases. This will further shorten the lead times. The warehouse, with among other things the parts to be used in the production, is moved right next to the production halls. Because of the increased capacity, it will no longer be needed to temporarily store the parts outside. This can only have a beneficial impact on the quality of the products which Terberg exports to over 80 countries in the world. In the export markets, factors like the relatively cheap dollar and the strength of the emerging competition from China, play a major role. Terberg Benschop puts in innovation, motivated employees and an optimal working environment. Thanks to the investments which will take place in 2010, Terberg will be better shaped for the future, to enter the fierce competition in the world market.
