Terberg is proud to introduce the new generation Body Carrier vehicles, the BC182 series.
This new generation of vehicles has been designed to transport swap bodies and has changed significantly compared with its predecessor. The following improvements have been incorporated:
  • The vehicle is fitted with a new cab model, which means it is fully up-to-date where safety, ergonomics and comfort are concerned.
  • The vehicle weight has been reduced by approximately 1.5 tonnes.
  • A clever combination of operator platforms and safety rails has considerably improved the ergonomics of the vehicle in general and of the lift table in particular.
  • Optimising the positions of the front and rear axles has resulted in better axle load distribution and a substantially smaller turning circle
  • The fifth wheel lifting frame is now connected directly to the chassis (independently of the lift table), which means that load forces are transferred straight to the chassis, giving a better ride when a trailer is connected.
The BC182 is equipped with a hydraulic lift table with a capacity of 25 tonnes. This lift table is suitable for different types of swap bodies conforming to the DIN 284 standard. Various options for attaching the swap body to the lift table are available.
The lift table is provided with a reliable vertical guide system, consisting of plastic wear plates and two double hinged stabilisers. Lifting is accomplished by four separate hydraulic cylinders using electronic levelling control.
The vehicle clearly illustrates the one-man operation concept, in which the driver can carry out all the necessary operations from a comfortable and ergonomically well-thought-out environment. The BC182 can be equipped with a durable hydraulically-lifted fifth wheel with a capacity of 15 tonnes, enabling it to be used for a wide variety of tasks.

The vehicle is powered by a 4-cylinder Mercedes Euro 3 engine delivering an output of 130 kW at 2200 rpm and a maximum torque of 675 Nm between 1200 and 1600 rpm. The engine is connected to a ZF automatic transmission with 3 forward and 3 reverse gears. This extremely reliable and well-matched engine and transmission combination provides excellent ride characteristics and a low noise level. The vehicle has a rigid rear axle (20 tonnes at 20 km/h) with double mounted 295/60 R22.5 tyres. Air suspension is optional. The front axle (11 tonnes at 20 km/h), with air suspension as standard, also has 295/60 R22.5 tyres.

Items such as the electrical installation, the fully-hydraulic Orbitrol steering and the chassis/cab construction are based on the "Terberg standard" and are therefore extremely reliable, with high levels of safety and comfort. This makes the new generation of Body Carrier vehicles an outstanding example of the quality for which Terberg stands.

Thanks to this quality and the well-though-out vehicle concept, the first BC182 vehicles have been successfully commissioned at various Terberg customers in Germany. We are pleased to report that follow-up orders have been placed from Germany, Italy and Norway.
