Terberg Benschop has supplied DFDS with ten (right-hand driven) 4x4 tractors of the type Terberg RT222. The last vehicle of this series started work at the turn of the year. They are used at the DFDS terminal in the port of Immingham, at the east coast of England.
The order is part of a three-year frame agreement which Terberg Benschop concluded earlier with DFDS in Copenhagen. Twelve vehicles were delivered in 2008, of the type RT222 as well as of the RT282 and RT382. The latest deliveries are all RT222’s.
Terberg Benschop and DFDS have quite a long business relationship. The first deliveries to the Danish shipping company date back to 1991. The confidence of DFDS in Terberg is based on the proven quality of its products. DFDS appreciates the long lifetime and reliability of the vehicles. The company also values the possibility to specify the vehicles, as closely as possible, for the work in the various ports. The Danish company has its own loading and unloading facilities in several countries. Therefore Terberg will always be consulting with the specialists of DFDS at the location where the tractors will do their work. This is the best way to specify the tractor as closely as possible to the various land activities. At DFDS Immingham this resulted in an order of tractors with the standard driveline of the RORO tractors. The RT222 is standard powered with the Mercedes-Benz OM906LA combined with an automatic transmission from ZF type 6WG211. The vehicles can move various types of trailers, including roltrailers, trans-lifters and cassette trailers.
DFDS Immingham has in its own facilities for service and maintenance of the vehicles in the port area. Terberg DTS UK is available 24/7 for support in parts and, if necessary, additional manpower to cope with peak load at DFDS. Support for DFDS takes place from the new headquarters of Terberg DTS in Elland, West Yorkshire. The Terberg Company moved to this new location in May last year, an area of 3000 m², specially built for service and support in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
