On June 1 2009, Terberg Benschop started Terberg Middle-East in Dubai. It is the first site that is completely built up by Terberg’s own people. It is the fourth establishment abroad for the manufacturer of special vehicles.

The office in Dubai is intended to operate for customers in the Middle-East and parts of Africa. It is important for this internationally operating company. It is also a logical result of the success of Terberg on the world market with terminal- and RoRo tractors. Last year a record number of 1250 vehicles has been built. Two thirds of the production are intended for Europe. Terberg Benschop has earlier taken over existing companies in Great Britain and Germany. These were modernized and extended after the takeover. But outside Europe there is also much growth potential. Therefore, in 2007 Terberg Benschop established in Malaysia a joint venture with the name Terberg Tractors Malaysia. This company supplies the markets in Southeast Asia and Australia. The Middle East and Africa are also important selling areas. These areas can be supplied fast and accurately from Dubai.

Dubai
Terberg Middle-East has an office and a warehouse in Dubai. The first activities are currently focused on the delivering of eighty Yard Tractors for the port of Dubai. At present, forty vehicles are delivered to DP World, one of the largest container handlers in the world. The terminal tractors will be used in Jebel Ali, the new container terminal in the port of Dubai. "We work in the Free Zone, within a stone’s throw from the new port, an ideal location for both the customers in the Emirates and in the surrounding countries to operate," says Ron van Arkel, the Dutchman who has established the new site and who will manage it. "Dubai is the center of the modern Middle East. The country has a vibrant economy and also a lot of potential for further growth. It is a pleasure to work from this very progressive and dynamic place."

Nearby
Thanks to excellent connections with the rest of the world, Dubai is for Terberg also an excellent location for contacts with customers in other Arab states, like the nearby countries in the Middle East such as Oman, Qatar and Egypt, and customers in African countries like Kenya, Mozambique and South Africa. Director of George Terberg of Terberg Benschop: "With the opening of the branch in Dubai, we show that we are seriously strengthening further our position in the world. Vehicles of Terberg are already working in more than eighty countries. With our new office and warehouse in Dubai we confirm our reputation that we are always as close as possible to the customer, anywhere in the world."
