For the transportation of containers, Oomen brothers have taken a Terberg FM1850-T into use. The 8x4 is equipped with a heavy loader crane and a hydraulic demountable body system moves containers to and from the premises where the specialist in earth moving, road construction and hydraulic engineering is in action. The steered drive axles on the new Terberg are an important option to the contractor in Rucphen.
2009 marks the 40th anniversary of the enterprise that Jan Oomen and his brother Piet founded in 1969. Piet retired some 25 years later, at which time Jan’s two sons, Jan Junior and Mano joined the company and in 2000 both were made partners. Further growth continued and today the groups activities include Oomen Brothers LLC, JC Koevoets LLC (1995) and Du Bois Ornamental Paving LLC.
In 2002 the entrepreneurial family started the consultancy and engineering firm Geo Infra LLC in Zundert. The launch of this company established the group’s position as a specialist in civil engineering and confirmed their ability to work on turnkey projects. Geo Infra, with eight employees, takes the responsibility for these projects and the other subsidiaries oversees that the work is carried out correctly. All in all the company employs sixty people of their own and twenty employees through third parties. The activities are mainly carried out in West Brabant, Zeeland and Zuid-Holland.
Indispensable
The trucks from Terberg are indispensable in the contracting business of the Oomen group. “We have three of them in our fleet of seven road vehicles,” says Mano Oomen. “Especially in rural places we often have a lack of working space on the construction site with buildings all around. Think of the renewal of soil pipes, which includes a complete reconstruction of the road and new road-surfacing. Especially on the construction sites with a lack of space and no road at all we need vehicles that have the best possible drive line for off road work at their disposal and also have no problem in maneuvering in narrow spaces. It is no problem when using the products of Terberg. It applies for the new 8x4 vehicle and the two trucks we have purchased earlier, a Terberg 8x8 and a Terberg 6x6. The FM2000-T is used for rather long-haul earth moving, The FM1350 is also used for earth-moving, but we also use the truck as a tractor for the semi low-loader with which we transport our (tracked) cranes, shovels and road-rollers. Indispensable machinery in our work consisting of earth moving, the construction and restoration of pavement and asphalt, the construction or reparation of drains and all kinds of other activities in the business of earth moving, road construction and hydraulic engineering, varying from ornamental paving for private persons to the construction of a water garden by order of a district water board or another local authority. All this on the pretext of quality and reliability,” as Mano proudly concludes.
