Just before the winter Dorrestijn International Transport Op- en Overslag purchased a new Terberg terminal tractor with a Euro 5 engine. General Manager Gijs Dorrestijn about this decision: "We have chosen this new Terberg in Euro 5 version because we want to do sustainable business."
The new Terberg, replacing a Terberg terminal tractor Dorrestijn purchased in 2000, is a Terberg YT 222-DT 4x2. Gijs describes Dorrestijn as a high quality transport company with a regional function for just in time deliveries. "With the purchase of a new tractor, we have increased the reliability and at the same time we work cleaner, quieter and more efficient now," he says proudly. The arrival of the new Terberg Euro 5 is also inspired by the vision of sustainable business of director Remco Dorrestijn: Remco: "I want us, at Dorrestijn, to do sustainable business in the interests of our customers, our employees and the neighbours in the surrounding area. At short distance from the industrial zone in Soest, houses were built. The new Terberg terminal tractor is not only cleaner, but also quieter and thus ensures a risk reduction of noise nuisance. In order to increase road safety, we have reduced the speed to a maximum of 25 km/h. Besides diminishing noise, that operation also lowers fuel consumption. My experience with our trucks is that the fuel consumption of an engine is higher in the clean Euro 5 version. However much we would like it to be otherwise, it does not restrain me from opting for sustainability. Our truck fleet is almost entirely Euro 5 and our Terberg beautifully fits into that now."
Long days
The "couple truck", as the Terberg YT 222-DT is called at Dorrestijn, works long days, as much as a total of eighty hours a week. Dorrestijn uses the terminal tractor to move trailers between its own property and the premises of various clients in the industrial area. These are mainly companies in forest products like wood, board and corrugated board. Dorrestijn takes care of the delivery in the Benelux and has some sixty own trailers available from which the Terberg daily moves about forty units. With so many trailers on the fifth wheel, the choice for a Terberg terminal tractor is ideal. Especially under difficult conditions like snow and ice, it is a great advantage that the driver can connect or disconnect the trailers quickly and safely from his vehicle. This is important because Dorrestijn takes extra care and attention for the health and safety of his employees. The new Euro 5 Terberg underlines that Dorrestijn is serious about sustainability, safety and health.
