New Generation Terberg YT182-222
Wednesday, June 2nd 2004

The 3rd generation Terminal tractor type YT182/222 was launched at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham.
The Terberg main-distributor convention took place at Terberg works Benschop – Holland in April 2004.
New cab with the following improvements:
- Nice and modern look, however retains the present well proven robust construction method.
- Cab retains the easily serviceable flat windows mounted in rubber.
- More internal space (cab width increases from 1165mm to 1400mm, cab height increases from 1625mm to 1825mm) for the driver.
- Because of the greater height has the door height increased from 1500mm to 1700mm allowing for easier entrance.
- Because of the greater cab height is the rear window running higher upwards relative to the driver, this gives a very good view on containers being loaded on the trailer and eliminates the need for a roof window in a lot of cases.
- Cab floor height reduced drastically (±160mm) by dropping the cab ±100mm relative to the chassis as well as moving the frontaxle ±60mm closer towards the chassis. This was made possible by using the new Volvo FA8.2 Low frontaxle with bigger centre drop.
- Because the cab floor height dropped significantly could we achieve a step arrangement with only 4 steps (was 5) to enter the cab and 3 steps to reach the walking area behind the cab. Please Note that with 11R22.5 tyres the 1st step is ±420mm above ground level and that all following steps are evenly spaced at 300mm intervals.
- The important steps are all made in a special longtime non slip surface.
- Offside driver mirror not mounted on the exhaust bracket but on the cab in a good visible position on the same height and length position as the drivers side mirror. The mounting on the cab will prevent vibration of the mirror.
- Front headlights moved into lower cab part to reduce vibration load on lamps.
- Improved heating/airconditioning performance with better air distribution towards the driver.
- Standard driver side horizontally sliding window.
- Optional driver side electrically operated “vertically down” window.
- New “soft feel” diam. 350mm steering wheel.
- Reduced in cab noise level from orbitrol/priority valve because of remote chassis-mounted priority valve.
- New, more attractively styled, dashboard layout with improved access for servicing.
- Improved noise insulation package below the cab to give lowest possible in cab noise level.
- New type front cab pivoting mounts, which give improved vibration isolation.
- Improved in cab storage capacity.
- New optional instructor seat which can be folded up to give unobstructed access to the cab.
Chassis with the following improvements:
- New more rectangular cooler package with 3 coolers (air/water/oil) above each other. The cooler package is specially designed to prevent early clogging up and to be easily cleaned if needed.
- New improved and bigger expansion tank, which is mounted on a well protected position behind the cab.
- New front bumper, front mudguards, side step and tank protection layout. Please Note that Air and fuel tank protection is standard on the YT182/222.
- Please Note that on tractors with high mounted liftframe (which have highest lifting capability) the tank protection is mounted higher upwards which allows for a big and safe level working deck for the driver.
- On tractors with low mounted liftframe (which have lower lifting capability but allow for ultra low fifthwheel height) is the tank protection mounted with its top at the same height as the top of the chassis.
- New combined fuel/hydraulic tank with new improved flow hydraulic oil return filter.
- Airfilter remains the same unit but is always positioned on the turbocharger side of the engine. This eliminates the need for big and long piping in the engine compartment giving better maintenance access and reduced airflow loss in the inlet piping.
- New, big volume exhaust silencer mounted behind the cab. This has allowed us to reduce the exhaust noise as well as improving the all around vision. Please Note that the silencer has been properly guarded with stainless steel grilles preventing the operator from coming in contact with any hot part.
- After tilting the cab will the engine compartment be easily accessible from both sides.
- The cab and chassis layout is such that with relatively simple measures a optional sound isolation package can be mounted.
- The 2 std. sound isolation panels on the left and right hand side of the engine can be removed very easily and fast to allow for perfect access to the engine compartment.
- Please Note that the liftframe arrangement will remain largely the same as on present YT180/220.
