Recently Terberg has delivered a special vehicle to MUD Rijplaten Service Westland in Monster. The FM2850 (10x4) is equipped with a control system that is special needed for operating a planking vehicle.

Terberg has developed a system for planking vehicles, enabling the vehicle to be operated from the seat position of the crane on the back of the vehicle. A brake pedal, accelerator pedal and control box are mounted where the crane operator sits, enabling the vehicle to be driven, steered and braked. The vehicle is steered using a joystick, which drives an electromotor on the steering system. The vehicle is driven by means of a rotary switch, which is used to select forwards and backwards. When the handbrake is applied, the AS-Tronic automatic transmission shifts to neutral so that the PTO function quickly becomes available without having to make any further adjustments. This system is ideal for quickly laying steel planking on soft ground.

A radio (wireless) configuration has been developed for vehicles equipped with a travelling crane. This enables the vehicle to be steered remotely. The radio control system takes over all the accelerating, braking and steering functions that are normally mounted on the crane. This radio control system enables operators to perform any manoeuvres from the best vantage point, enabling them to work more efficiently.
